General view of the Bibi-Khanym mosque from Shakh-i Zindeh. Samarkand

Description

S.M. Prokudin-Gorsky's comment:

This is the saddest story of Samarkand. I have been here four years before, during the trip to observe solar eclipse. The dome was here. Now it is almost gone. The only thing left is little piece with huge cracks — the next earthquake will tear it down completely. I wonder, why do they don't protect the passage in the mosque, it is dangerouse to be in. It is one of the most interesting mosques. It was build by Tamerlan in honour of his late wife.
